It is a very special day for Alamut Industrial, the corporation set up to develop Afghanistan. A full board meeting has been called. Representatives of the independent tribes of Afghanistan sit around a long, simple table. At one end sits a royal representative. These are the men who run the day to day affairs of the AI, but today there is another, a special guest. Their king, the Emir of all Afghanistan and of the Principalities of South Vietnam and Khamir has called them together, a right granted to him in the charter. The room grows quiet as he enters. He is not adorned with his military decorations, but instead wears a simple, white Persian suit, his trademark cigar clamped between his teeth.
Chairman, honored board members, I would like to thank you for being here today. I have come here to make an important announcement. Thanks in part to equipment and plans bought off the Greeks, and all of your hard work we have begun to become a truly modern power. New power plants, burning coal and natural gas, bring power to more of Afghanistan then ever before. Our major cities now have modern water treatment facilities, ending the days of rampant water born diseases. Mining and petroleum production is up thanks to our expanded geological programs. Steel and oil refineries pave the way to a new future. Rail lines running to our neighbors in Persia, along with thousands of miles of telegraph line, connect us to the rest of the world. Agricultural modernization will increase crop output exponentially. Today Afghanistan’s first arms factory has begun to turn out the French designed Chauchat Guns. This is only the beginning. If we do not grow we will die. So I have come here to announce a brave new plan for the future of our mighty kingdom. My representative has given you each a copy of my new plan. I have no doubt you will give it serious consideration.
God’s will be done.
